Ashley
O’Brien

General Manager - Business Performance

Ashley O’Brien is a highly experienced hospitality and gaming professional with more than 24 years in venue operations, gaming product management and multi-site performance leadership. Beginning his career in 2001, Ashley has progressed through senior operational and gaming roles within some of Victoria’s most recognised hotel and hospitality groups.

Ashley brings deep practical experience across venue management, gaming operations and groupwide product strategy. His background includes leading gaming functions during major structural transitions, including the move from Tabcorp-operated environments to independent gaming operations, delivering improved control, performance and commercial outcomes.

Since joining Mercury Group Victoria, Ashley has continued to focus on driving business performance, operational consistency and member outcomes across the network, supporting venues through hands-on leadership, commercial insight and strong industry relationships.

  • Progressed from Gaming Manager to Venue Manager roles at major hospitality venues including Gladstone Park Hotel and Olive Tree Hotel, Sunbury.
  • Led gaming product operations for a large hospitality group, including the successful transition from Tabcorp to independent gaming operations.
  • Instrumental in transitioning two hotel groups to independent gaming models, strengthening commercial control and long-term sustainability.
  • Held senior Operations and Gaming Manager roles within the Liuzzi Group, overseeing gaming performance across multiple venues.
