Administration & Accounts Team

Completed Advanced Diploma of Business (Accounting) in 2003, began working for a small bookkeeping business in Bendigo in 2004. Tasks included recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, reconciling accounts and preparing financial statements, maintaining client compliancy with BAS/Super etc obligations. A couple of large clients of note: Foundry Hotel, National Hotel Motel, Loddon Mallee Preschool Association (which at the time was a non-profit entity that managing bookkeeping and payroll for 15-20 kindergartens, in addition to being a central enrolment system for kindergartens in the Bendigo region, thousands of preschool fee invoices every quarter!). I was often the person all the ‘tricky’ stuff was handed off to within the business. When the business started winding down, my business partner moved to Queensland and the struggles of Covid, I left the business and was employed directly by Foundry Hotel for 20 hours per week, and pursued a new avenue of employment with afternoon/evening shift at Don KR Castlemaine, a bacon factory. After a few years at Don, I began working in a Stock control position for the Ham Slicing department. This involved calculating consumables stock required for planned production on any given day, ordering and managing required stock, and generally running around assisting the lines where needed. I loved this job and I loved driving around on the forklift! When the Foundry Hotel was purchased by Mercury Group in 2024, my role at the Foundry changed from bookkeeping and payroll to counting tills, reconciling and opening gaming room in the mornings, performing beverage stock takes and collating bills etc to send through to Mercury Group each week. After a visit from Kim in early 2025, I returned to bookkeeping working within the Mercury accounts team on a casual basis. For a few months I was working 3 jobs, squeezing in about 70+ hours of work a week, and loving every second of it. (My wife is an incredibly patient woman!) After a very tough decision on which job I had to relinquish, tough because I was in love with all three jobs and didn’t want to give any of them up, I resigned from Don and started bookkeeping full time with Mercury in May 2025, and I remain working for Foundry Hotel 4 mornings a week, opening gaming, counting tills, stocktakes and sending Mercury accounts bills and till reports etc.
